Disappointed AS WELL

Can anyone help me? Has anyone had any luck with the back section of their Sorels digging into the Achilles tendon, and also digging into the ankle? I want to keep these because they keep my toes nice and warm but I cant wear them for more than 10 minutes without HUGE blisters being caused :( Any advice would be nice

Cold and wet foot

I was absolutely in love with these boots when I bought them last year in March. I enjoyed them for a month then put them away looking forward to many years of wear as I paid handsomely for them but splurged thinking I had bought a high quality product.
I brought them out in November of this year and wore them for two months until the problem started. Where the tracks are on the bottom of the sole have developed cracks along every single grip in the bottom and now i have a very wet and cold foot. I stored them in their box all summer and the winter has been rainy and wet and not cold at all. Tomorrow I am out to purchase a new pair of boots to keep my feet dry and I certainly will skip the Sorel section of the shoe store.

Bien qu'elle soient belles et chaudes, je regrette d'avoir payé si cher pour mes bottes SOREL. En effet, après seulement un hiver, la semelle sous mon pied a fendue et l'eau rentre par en dessous, ce qui fait que j'ai un pied toujours mouillé. Vraiment détestable! Surtout pour le prix qu'elles valent!!!

These boots are pretty...and pretty painful when I walk they dig into the back of my leg at the bottom of my calf muscle. It causes bruising after only a few minutes. I have tried putting extra insoles in and wearing different socks and leg warmers but nothing works. Too bad because they look pretty.

I was very pleased with the appearance of my new boots and that they fit my wider calf!

However, I had the same problem with the heel injury as other reviewers. Happily, I was able to resolve it by removing the lining and building the back of the boot up with some duct tape where the rubber meets the leather. The problem seems to be resolved and now I am enjoying them. I am disappointed that I had manipulate the boot to make it comfortable, especially at this price.

I have been researching for over 2 years to find a warm & pretty winter boots and deliberated over this pair for a long time. My top priority was to get a pair of warm boots just for day-to-day traveling around Montreal. I came across many reviews that claim that these boots are warm & toasty and finally bought them this winter.

Unfortunately, they have been utterly disappointing in terms of keeping my feet warm. It is claimed on the box that these boots have up to -30 degrees C protection but my feet were frozen after waiting for the bus for 10 minutes in -15 degrees C I reckon.

Very cute boots but they are only good for looking pretty.

These boots are the prettiest snow boots I've seen under $200, but unless you only use them to walk less than 10 minutes, I suggest going with another product.

PROBLEM 1:
I have the same issue many of these other reviewers face. Something digs in the back of my Achilles tendon.. I think the leather folds over and presses into the back of my upper heel. It is painful and uncomfortable.

PROBLEM 2:
MY TOES FREEZE AFTER TEN MINUTES IN THE COLD! The Sorel rating talks about "activity level," and I use it to take my dog for walks, so it's not like I'm just standing around. My toes get so cold after such a short time, even in just 30 degrees F, that they literally start stinging.

These boots are a lovely waste of money.

This the best winter boot. I live in Michigan and we get a lot of snow. I love that I don't even have to wear socks with this boot! So soft inside.

I would recommend buying a size smaller if you are a half size. I'm a 7.5, I ordered a 7 and they're perfect. An 8 would have been too large and slipped off my heel.

The fur is super cute, I love the navy and orange combo. My roommate bought the brown and red. We both walk the dog in them every day! A little tough to tuck jeans into but not bad.

Overall: LOVE!

A cold high pressure has been dominating the weather around here and the temp.'s have been unseasonably cold, but my Joans are rocking and my feet are warm (plus I always wear merino wool socks). I have a pair of the caribou's, which run a little on the larger side, but the Joan's are spot on size wise. I wear a seven shoe and the sevens fit perfectly. Also, I loosened the laces so I don't have to tie them to get them on and off, making them slip ons. Overall I am totally psyched on my purchase, and Sorel makes the best winter footwear.

These boots are beautiful, stylish and PAINFULl! I bought these boots last season and loved them. They were comfortable, waterproof and gorgeous. However, this season now that the leather has broken in a little bit the leather that runs up the back boot has collapsed and digs into my heel. I have tried wearing two pairs of very thick socks and tried putting a flexible piece of plastic in the back in between the liner and the shell, but the leather still digs into my heel. Sorel needs to design these boots again so that their customers heels do not bleed!

I was excited to finally invest in some decent winter boots for my Canadian winter. These Sorels fit well, and look great, but were not without some pretty glaring issues.

They haven't quite broken in yet with weeks of wear in terms of the amount of flexibility at the ankle; there is still an awkward ski-boot like heel-to-toe walking effect. Not a smooth walking boot. I like to walk more than I like to drive, so this is unfortunately a big deal to me. Clunky walking is distracting and annoying.

My other issue has been that the boots tend to cut in at both ankles. I had to retire them for a few weeks to allow my heels to heal. Now I just make a point of avoiding the boots all-together if I'm walking for longer than 45 minutes at a time.

I still enjoy wearing them for short spurts (they are warm and cute), but am sad that my investment hasn't amounted in a boot that I can essentially live in this winter.

So far, these boots are great. They are very warm, but they don't cause my feet to sweat. The fit is a bit tough to get used to, however they are starting to break in. They've got good traction. Haven't tried them in the snow yet. They could be more versatile if the fur was removable, because I don't always wear jeans or leggings that can tuck in easily. All in all, they are fantastic winter boots. Warm, breathable, and they are so cute!

Very nice boots. I keep checking the weather for snow so I can have the right excuse for wearing them everyday. They look fantastic, I feel very icelandic in them. The down fall is they take time to put on and take off and I cant drive in them as they are a little bulky. Apart from that they are very lovely.

I'm so thrilled to have gotten my boots. These are my third pair of Sorel's. They are mostly really comfortable, a little stiff but I think they will loosen up after a few wears in the snow. When I got them I took them for a walk to the woods to find some ice to play on. They worked well on the ice and were more comfortable walking on the ground as opposed to the asphalt. I can't wait 'til there is lots of snow. My daughter is trying to steal them because they are so cute with the faux fur and they match our dog. I wear an 8 or 8.5, I ordered 8 and they fit perfect even with thick socks.

I absolutely LOVE these boots! I live in PA and my fiance is a New England man. I've never owned a decent pair of snow boots, and my fiance Jeremy has been telling me for years to get Sorels. Jeremy has worn the same hand-me-down pair of Sorels for the past 15 years and absolutely swears by them! I finally gave in and looked online to see what my options were, and was thrilled to find so many fashionable but functional options! I ordered these boots and had them just in time for Thanksgiving in VT, where a surprise snowstorm made me incredibly thankful that I had ordered these adorable boots! I had brought my new boots to VT to show off to his family, even though no snow was predicted, and I am incredibly thankful that I did! These boots kept me perfectly dry and warm on a hike through wet and heavy snowfall that measured anywhere from 6 to 8 inches depending on where you stood. I also wore these boots the following day, after the snow had begun to melt and the ground had turned to mud, and was able to go out and visit friends and family feeling both fashionable and comfortable, and was met with compliments from family and friends. I highly recommend these boots! However, I did have some trouble with the shoe size. I had to return the first pair I ordered for a pair that was the next size up, but even so, I was able to have the perfect pair of boots within a week's time, and they rescued me from cold and muddy feet while still looking stylish in spite of a freak snowstorm! Thanks Sorel!

I received the boots; I'm just not happy. The boots fit true to size for the most part (I'm a size 6 in majority of shoes so I ordered a 6); however, my left foot feels great but my right toe rubs a bit when I walk. I was surprised at the rubbing considering the toe area is so wide and these appear to be slightly larger than my rain boots. I am wondering if this is from the felt lining needing to be broke in. Regardless of rubbing, there is a bit too much fur at the top of the boots for my taste; I'm 5'1" @ 100lbs. so I don't need to look like I'm being swallowed by fuzz. There's also a lot of bulk when you lace these. By the time you tuck your skinny jeans and socks in, you feel like there's a heavy hairy growth on both your legs. I can say that these boots seem like they can stand up to some major cold. I doubt you will need to wear thick socks with these boots. Maybe if you are planning to play outside in the snow all day a light pair of wool socks would be needed but that's about it. I haven't had any issues with ankle rubbing. What I think needs to be done for that is simply lacing them properly. The laces should be tighter at the bottom and gradually loosen as you go up but not too much (think of lacing a pair of ice skates). I'm going to give Cate the Great a chance.

I was super excited when I ordered the boots, but it turns out they are not warm enough. 2 weeks after ordering these I had to get different boots; this time with Thinsulate. I think if it wasn't so cold here they would do better.

This is the sixth pair of Sorels I've owned and I absolutely love them! I have yet to own a pair that I didn't love. They do tend to run a little on the big side. I normally wear a 6 1/2, so I went with a 6 and they fit perfectly! I am excited for the winter to hurry up and get here now!

These are beautiful to look at. They cut into my leg 2" above my ankle every time I wear them. They are painful to wear. I am not sure if this is a liner problem or the boot design??

I do not recommend this product.

These are super stylish, comfy and utilitarian. They are sold only in whole sizes, I'm always a 9.5 and I ordered a 10 - too large (and I typically would go up, never down). I ordered a 9 - just perfect.

The Greatest Pair of Boots I Own

These boots are the ideal balance of rugged practicality and stylish flair. The suede uppers are flexible and comfortable, the rubber outsole provides excellent traction, and the felt lining is both warm and soft. A NOTE ABOUT FIT: I am a tried-and-true size 7. When I tried these boots on in 7, they were a little big, HOWEVER I was wearing a thin casual sock. When I got home and tried them on with a thick, merino wool sock, the boots fit perfectly (and if it was snowing I would be wearing the thicker socks, anyway... or even double-up my socks). All that to say, the fit is great, and i LOVE these boots.

I would recommend this product.

Beautiful, toasty, but tight in the calf

I absolutely love the look and the warmth of my new boots -- truly high quality! Really my only complaint is that, because of my thicker calves, the seam in the back of the boot buckles a bit and presses into my calf causing irritation. If not for that (painful) issue, these boots would be a 5-star for sure.

My husband asked me whet I wanted for my birthday and so I showed him a picture of the Joan of Arctic boots. Guess what? I was lucky and got them! Whoo hoo! I have another pair of Sorels which I love, they are more "dressy" Firenze with the scrunchy leather and wool insides, I wear them a lot! Anyway, I was hoping for cold weather and I had to take my daughter to a water polo game at 8:00 am in 30 degree weather so I wore the Joan of Artic boots and my feet were toasty warm! These boots are the real deal, if you are looking for style and warmth, these are the boots!

Beautiful, but I have big calves

So these are just like everyone says, ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL.

They definitely are great for style AND if you are looking for a hard core snow boot with great traction on the bottom for harsh winters so you don't fall on your face, or so snow doesn't get in your shoe. I never thought a boot could have a great design but be useful. Usually if you want a useful boot, they are kind of ugly and then a cute boot, you just end up falling on your face. So, I definitely recommend this boot whether you live in an area with harsh winters, or you just want a cute snow boot or both.

However, I am like 5'3'' and rather curvy. Honestly, I am by no means plus size or anything, but more like I have an unproportional body. So, my calves are just annoyingly larger than the rest of my body, so I was actually able to get them on, but then at the very top, they just looked weird. So if you have big calves...

I would recommend this product.

ready for a blizzard!

I recently purchased these boots in oxford/grenadine and was lucky enough to get snow the next day. They kept my feet warm, which is hard to do as i have spent 10 years working outside in NH and CO winters and have been hit with frostbite on my toes numerous times. These run a little big, i ordered my normal 8 and there is plenty of room for thick socks. They are a little stiff and clunky but I haven't had any issues with them rubbing my feet or ankles and figure they will break in fantastically. They are super stylish and i've already got compliments on them the 2 times i've worn them. Can't wait for a big snowstorm to tromp through the snow with toasty warm and dry feet. Thanks Sorel!

LOVE THESE BOOTS!

They seemed to run a little small for me. I usually wear a 5 1/2- 6 1/2 but I tried them on in a store and those sizes were too small but a 7 fit me just right. I love these boots! I have only worn them twice and both times, I was able to walk through inches of slush and snow and they kept my feet toasty and dry (and looked awesome while doings so). I couldn't help but laugh to myself a little at all the people avoiding puddles and snow drifts and having soaked shoes because they didn't have these awesome boots!

Wanted to love them.

I loved the look and the fact that they were waterproof. My feet are sadly between a 6.5 and a 7. 7s are just too big and 6s are just too small. Also, the back heel is very stiff. I felt like I have to lift up my legs as though I was marching to avoid this. Figured that walking around long in these would drive me up the wall. Maybe it's because the size isn't right. Don't know. They look fabulous though - just wish they would've fit.

Joan of Arctic vs Torfino

I purchased the Torfino boots first, but then on another shopping trip, I decided I LOVED the Joan of Arctic in Shale. The"fur" on the tops of the boots is so cute, and seemingly better quality than the Torfino. I just couldn't decide which ones I liked better, so i purchased the Joan of Arctic as well. At home, I walked around in both styles of boots trying to decide which one to keep, and ultimately, the Torfino won out because of comfort. The Joan of Arctic was more rigid around the top of the foot and ankle. The footbed was a little wider, so less supportive. But the inside liner of the boot was so soft feeling and warm. Had I not been comparing the two boots side-by-side, I would have been really happy with the Joan of Arctic. They were not uncomfortable - just not as comfortable as the Torfino. The Joan of Arctic has a more rugged look - which I loved. The suede was beautiful.

Bought these online and went a half a size down! Regularly 8.5-8 so I bought an 8 and the fit great! On top of that all the girls in my dental assisting class love them and want some for themselves because their so great! Needless to say my feet will be warm dry and comfortable this winter while treading through the Tahoe snow!

best boots

Have been a fan of sorels ever since my first MA ice-fishing experience ~25 yrs ago when my feet froze after ~ an hour in my "winter" boots. I went home, borrowed a pair of sorels from my boyfriend's little brother and spent the rest of the day back out on the ice in warmth and comfort. Have stomped through winter slush/snow in VT, MA, NH and PA with no leaks, no cold. Am replacing w/ a new style, but am sure these will be just as functional. Love the fur-top! I usually wear 7 - 7.5 in women's shoes/boots - since the reviews differed regarding fit; some said they ran large, some said they ran small, so I just went with the 7. They fit fine w/ room for heavier socks and I can still wiggle my toes. Had a bit of a problem with other styles where the heel slipped too much to be comfortable, but these do not seem to have that problem. Looking forward to some cold weather!

Very cute, very heavy

When I saw these shoes, I immediately loved them. I bought them because I will be moving to Germany soon and am afraid of the winter there. Normally, I am a 7 1/2 but I went with the 7's and they were snug. These boots are so warm and so cute. My only issue is how heavy they are! I expected them to be able to be worn casually like Uggs. They will be perfect come snow-time, but as for casual wear, I'll probably wait until it's a little bit colder.

Cuter in Person!

After debating between this boot and another style through Sorel, I decided on this one. I am so glad that I did! The quality and craftsmanship of this boot is top-notch! They are super stylish but yet have all of the requirements for a warm winter boot. I thought this boot was cute online but, I was even more impressed at how SUPER CUTE they are in person. I can't wait for the snow to start flying, so I can put these on. I've posted a picture of these online and my friends have already commented on how beautiful these are. I was undecided as to what size I should order, and so I called the Sorel Customer Service number for guidance. The gentleman told me that these boots tend to run true to size, and he was absolutely right. Sorel's staff was helpful and friendly. All around my experience with Sorel has been wonderful. Order this boot, you will be so happy you did!

LOVE THIS BOOT

This is the best winter boot! I borrowed my friend's pair when I went snowmobiling last year and I just had to buy a pair for myself this season! They are super warm, I just wore a pair of ski socks and they kept my feet warm all day long. I was out on a snowmobile all day and my feet never got cold. Not only were they warm on the snow, they were adorable when I wore them out at night without my snow pants. It's so nice not to have to pack different shoes when you go somewhere. I would definitely recommend these to anyone!

Bring on the snow, my boots are ready!!

I LOVE my new Sorel boots! The fit is perfect to size. I was worried a bit about snow getting in being a lace up boot but they are completely sealed, nothing will get through these boots! Oh and did I mention they are ADORABLE? Bring on the Wisconsin snow, I am ready : )
